I will advocate for a zero-based budgeting approach across all city departments, requiring every dollar to be carefully justified and accounted for. This approach can help address the projected multi-million dollar FY 2025–26 deficit while protecting the city’s General Fund reserves and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.
SUSTAINED POLICE FUNDING
I will ensure the Pleasant Hill Police Department (PHPD) remains well funded to maintain community safety.
ENHANCED ANTI-THEFT SURVEILLANCE
I will work to install additional police-controlled cameras in high-theft commercial zones, including the Crossroads Shopping Center.
REMOVAL OF FLOCK SAFETY AUTOMATED LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION CAMERAS (FLOCK CAMERAS)
I will advocate for the removal of Flock cameras installed on city property to protect resident privacy and civil liberties from warrantless mass data collection.
STRENGTHENING POLICING THROUGH TRANSPARENCY & TECHNOLOGY
I will work to equip all PHPD vehicles with dash cameras to increase transparency and provide protection for both officers and citizens.
NEIGHBORHOOD SPEED ENFORCEMENT
I will work to address the high number of speeders in residential neighborhoods and other areas with heavy pedestrian traffic by increasing speed enforcement and making our streets safer for residents, pedestrians, and cyclists.
SAFER CONTRA COSTA CANAL TRAIL CROSSINGS
I will work to install safer mechanisms at street crossings along the Contra Costa Canal Trail in Pleasant Hill, such as raised crosswalks, speed bumps, or other traffic-calming measures where appropriate. These improvements would make pedestrians and cyclists more visible, encourage drivers to slow down, and reduce the risk of collisions between vehicles and trail users.
A SIDEWALK FOR ALL OF PLEASANT HILL ROAD
I will work to construct permanent sidewalks along sections of Pleasant Hill Road where pedestrians currently lack a dedicated sidewalk. My goal will be to close sidewalk gaps and provide residents with a safe, accessible pedestrian route separated from vehicle traffic, rather than requiring people to walk along a hazardous roadway.
PRESERVING OUR NEIGHBORHOODS
NEW HOUSING COMMISSION
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & INFRASTRUCTURE
COUNCIL ACCESSIBILITY
I will work to establish regular monthly opportunities for residents to meet directly with their City Council Members, engage meaningfully with their community, and ensure their voices are heard in local government.
PUBLIC TRANSIT ACCESS
I will work to coordinate with County Connection to explore establishing a new bus stop near the Pleasant Hill Road and Oak Park Boulevard area, improving transit access and convenience for residents.
I want to hear directly from the people of Pleasant Hill: their ideas, concerns, and priorities for the future of our city. A strong community starts with listening, and I am committed to making sure residents’ voices are heard.
